Full Steam Ahead: Tiny Rails on PC

Greetings from Tiny Titan! We hope the impending weekend finds all of you well and excited for whatever activities you've got lined up.

Tiny Rails Launch

We wanted to take a moment to talk about the launch of Tiny Rails on iOS/Android in early December. Thank you to our players for helping to make the game launch a big success. It was our strongest launch to date, with the game reaching 1 million installs within its first week of availability thanks to a Best New Games feature on the App Store. Post-launch, response on Google Play has been outstanding, and we're seeing our biggest install days for any title we've released at present. It's been fantastic and we're extremely grateful for your support.

What does the future hold for Tiny Rails? In the immediate sense, we're working hard to iron out a lot of the wrinkles that shipped with the game. We're well aware of bugs that need squashing and performance issues on various iOS and Android devices, and we're doing everything we can to try and remedy these. Thank you for your bug reports so far; we encourage players to continue contacting us at support@tinytitanstudios.com with their observations and issues.

Tiny Rails Updates: Coming Soon

On the development side, update 1.0.8 should be submitted next week. This update will contain a fix for the ever-troublesome and surprisingly-difficult-to-fix speed boost lock bug, some light optimizations and continued improvements for visual issues caused by our recent navigation overhaul. We'll be including tools to assist with bug reporting and customer support, very similar to those found in Dash Quest, which we're excited about, and you'll see at least one new feature: Factories, where players can gather resources to manufacture a unique train car in each area.

Factories are being introduced to help give our late-game players more to do, and to that end we're also working on more robust quests for our following update, 1.1.0. The major addition in 1.1.0, however, will be content, namely Europe! Four new map areas and chapters will await you, as well as new cities, characters, quests, cargo, Moments and environments.

Tiny Rails on Steam Greenlight - January 16, 2017

There's one other major development we'd like to speak about: Steam Greenlight. We've wanted to branch out on to other platforms for some time, but we've always debated how appropriate our titles were for a PC audience. The feedback we've received on Tiny Rails, including photos of players propping up their phones/tablets on stands to have the game running in the background while they do other things, has convinced us that it's a great fit for the PC platform. Letting your train travel away in a background window while you work or stay in touch on social media seems like a natural extension of what we created the game to do.

With that in mind, we plan to launch a Steam Greenlight campaign for Tiny Rails on Monday, January 16, 2017 at 11:00 am Eastern Time. For those unfamiliar with the process, developers who wish to launch a game on Steam must submit a title to Greenlight, where users vote for whether they'd like to see the title become available or not. We're counting on our huge numbers of Facebook and Twitter followers to help us get the job done, so please keep your eyes peeled on Monday morning for links to our Greenlight page. Your upvote is a huge help and we'd really appreciate your continued support!

In terms of what a PC version of Tiny Rails would look like, we'd intend to remove ad support and in-app purchases, and focus on adjusting the game economy to reflect this. We'd like to add menu hotkeys and a scalable UI to help support various monitor resolutions. And we might have a few other surprises or changes in store.

There you have it, Tiny Rails players. We are incredibly thankful for your support and kind words about the game, and we hope we can count on your continued support to help us bring the game to a whole new audience!

Until next time... look for Greenlight links this coming Monday!
